TQI is designed to work without knowing who you are. There are no accounts, we do not sell your data, and we do not show ads.
If you allow it, TQI uses your approximate location to show the traffic index for the area you are in. Precise coordinates stay on your device. Only an approximate point is sent to our servers to look up traffic, where it is snapped to a roughly 1.2 km grid cell and is not linked to your identity. You can use TQI without location by searching for an area instead.
If you create a trip watcher, its start and end points and time window are stored on our servers so we can send your notification even when the app is closed. These are tied to an anonymous device identifier, not to your name, email, or Apple ID.
If you enable notifications, your device push token is stored so we can deliver commute pings.
We keep aggregate counts, such as how many traffic samples were fetched and their estimated cost, to power the transparency section in the app. These contain no personal information.
Tips are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card or payment details. We record only the tip amount and currency, with no identifying information.
TQI relies on a small number of providers to run: Apple (the App Store and push notifications), Google Maps Platform (live traffic and place search, requested by our servers), and Supabase (our backend hosting).
Anonymous device and watcher records are kept only as long as needed to run the service. You can remove your watchers in the app at any time, and uninstalling the app stops all data collection.
TQI is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
